Manitoba Wildfire Service Update

Due to the drought conditions in Manitoba, and a return to high to extreme fire danger levels, fire and travel restrictions remain in place across much of the province.

Smoke from the closest fire, located 18 km northwest of Setting Lake, is blanketing the area.  Fire NO 019 is currently burning out of control. See map for fire location.

Similar weather conditions are expected to continue across the province through the next 7 – 10 days, and similar conditions are also occurring all across Western Canada and Ontario.

The public is reminded to use extreme caution with any activity that they undertake to reduce the threat of human-caused fires. Under these extreme conditions a wildfire can spread out of control quickly.
