Setting Lake Cottage Owners Association (SLCOA) is a volunteer non-profit organization. It was established in the 1970s to unite Setting Lake cottage owners as a single entity, to support and enable them to take united action on matters of common interest or concern, and to maintain and advance the interests of its members.

Over the past 40 years, SLCOA members have enjoyed the benefits that come from many voices speaking as one. The association is a strong advocate for cottage owners representing the community’s interests to government departments and agencies, the RCMP, Manitoba Hydro, and other organizations.

The association provides basic community services including maintaining access roads, operating the landfill, and providing fire protection services.

SLCOA road reps are “the front line” for road, landfill and fire issues, and members’ first point of contact for other questions or concerns. You are more than welcome to share your ideas with your road reps. Please try to contact your own road rep first. Email addresses are in the “Contact” section of this website. If your road rep is not available, you may contact a rep from another road.

You are welcome to attend SLCOA’s Executive meetings. Meeting schedules and agendas are posted on the website. If you’re unable to attend, share you comments with your road rep. These folks are your “voice” at Executive meetings.

Over the years the association and community volunteers have undertaken many local improvements. Among its achievements – advocating, funding and providing volunteer labour for the following:

  • 1970s – securing hydroelectric power for each cabin

  • 1980s – securing telecommunication service for each cabin to replace access road pay phones

  • 1980s – construction of the Setting Lake boat launch

  • 1990s – securing internet service for the Setting Lake area

  • 2000s – construction of the Cecil M. Smith Firehall

  • 2000s – expansion and upgrading of the lagoons

  • 2017/2018 – construction of new bulletin boards on access roads

  • 2019 – reconstruction of Setting Lake boat launch

SLCOA’s new website is the “go to” site for association news and information about upcoming events and activities in and around our lakeside community.

Check the website and SLCOA’s Facebook page often. New information is provided on a continuous basis. We welcome your assistance in keeping information current. Your participation is what makes the association and this site work!
